Patrick and Christine Scheer moved to Western PA 17 years ago and built their retirement home on Wolf Creek in Grove City. Christine was returning to the area in which she grew up (after living in Southern California for 35 years), and Patrick fell in love with the area during many visits.
Patrick is a consulting architect specializing in Restaurants, Health Clubs, Family Fun Centers and Equestrian Sales Facilities. Christine helps maintain the farm, overseeing the day to day medical care of the animals while carving out time for painting, photography, and one of a kind creations using the alpacas fiber.
The daily farm maintenance and animal care falls to Bob Ballew, farm manager, who is also responsible for most of what has been built so far – barn with office, vet area, retail shop, barn work area, and all the pasture fencing and gates. He has been invaluable to WestPark Alpacas.
Our farm was built from scratch, transforming gently rolling pasture-land to one of the few “purpose built” alpaca farms around. The radial farm layout allows direct access to food, water and shelter from each of the separate pastures. Second cut orchard grass hay is farmed by WestPark. A hydroponic wheatgrass fodder system provides for freshly grown food throughout the winter. From your visit, you’ll experience the atmosphere and learn about the care and feeding of a healthy and peaceful alpaca herd. You’ll be able to touch alpacas and feel samples of products generated from their fiber sheared annually at WestPark alpacas
We are committed to improving the quality of our herd through a thoughtful breeding program. We are especially committed to doing everything in our power to improve the market for alpaca fiber in the organic clothing and textile industries.
